Maxol Takes Home Two Top Awards at Ireland’s Forecourt and Convenience Retailer Awards 2018

Maxol, Ireland’s leading family owned forecourt and convenience retailer, was delighted to receive the prestigious award of Best Forecourt/Convenience Store of the Year in the 1751-2750 sq. ft cateogry for its Ballycoolin Services. The company also took home the award for Best Training Initiative 2018.

Ballycoolin is Maxol's third major offline motorway development after Mulhuddart on the M3 in County Dublin, and Tannaghmore on the A26 in Co. Armagh. Following an investment of over €4m in 2017, Maxol Ballycoolin Services offers a variety of eat in or takeaway dining options including Abrakebabra, the Bagel Factory, Freshly Chopped, Insomnia and O’Brien’s Sandwich Café. The offering at Ballycoolin was enhanced when Ireland’s first Insomnia Drive-Thru opened in April this year with a further investment of €350,000. Aramark, a global specialist in food service, is the licensee appointed by Maxol that operates both sites.

An independent body of judges assessed the stores over a period of time, based on specific criteria including

a clean and attractive forecourt area with convenient and well maintained services; and an inviting and well stocked convenience store which provides an exceptional shopping experience in terms of quality, choice and value. Higher scores are awarded for value added services  that enhance the customer experience on the forecourt and in the store.

Maxol was also the recipient of the Training Initiative of the Year Award. Maxol developed a bespoke customer service training course that was delivered across its network of service stations with the objective of building consistency and raising standards in customer service. The company used the “GUEST Model”, which trains staff on engaging with the public to Greet, Understand, Engage, Satisfy, and Thank All participants were awarded a certification on completion.

Maxol was also shortlisted as a finalist in five additional categories;
Best Forecourt up to 1750 sq.ft.
Best Forecourt 1751 – 2750 sq. ft
Best Forecourt Facilities
Best Oil Company Initiative
Best Food to Go
