Maxol Link With Marks & Spencer Set To Shake The Dust Off Oil Company Promotional Schemes

Maxol, Europe’s leading independent oil company, has invested £750,000 in a new forecourt loyalty promotion, which was launched today (1 July 1999).

PointsPlus is the first instant, electronic loyalty card, which will be accepted in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and uses HTEC technology, the best system available for this type of scheme. It is also the first loyalty scheme to offer instant redemption and points checking facilities at any participating Maxol station.

The scheme, which has no registration or form-filling requirement, offers customers the opportunity to collect points with every purchase from participating Maxol service stations, which can then be redeemed at any Marks & Spencer store in Northern Ireland. There is also a fuel back option to gain discounts on Maxol products.

Points are issued with Maxol motor fuel, lubricants and car wash and each card when full is worth £5.

PointsPlus replaces Maxol’s Choices for People scheme, which will finish on 30 June 1999. However customers can continue to redeem their completed cards through at Marks & Spencer stores until 31 December 1999 and through the choices for people catalogue.

Commenting on the launch of the new loyalty scheme, Brian Donaldson, Group Marketing Manager of Maxol, said:

The link with top High Street retailer, Marks & Spencer offers consumers a wide range of goods from daily shopping, wine and clothes to large household goods. The scheme is an opportunity to benefit from real cost savings.
